What happens to carrots when your 7yr old helps plant

Yup, that's one HUGE carrot made up of little ones..........'nuf said!! ;)

Zucchini

Well, here's my 2 zucs from the garden, a rather small garden I must add. But hey - it'll be good for a meal or two! Hopefully a few more will grow so I can make some bread!!
As many of you know, Robbie is the Project Manager of the boat they are building. It was to be launched in August. Well now, after many changes its going to be launched in November. However, now they are going shift work. Meaning 2am-10am and 10am-6pm. Which also means he has to do each of the shifts a few times a week. UGH! In between the shifts the painters will work. So needless to say, its going to be interesting around here for a while! As for camping - think that's out for a while :( The good news is that if they get the contract for the new boat, then he gets his own building, crew and it'll be totally his!
Also for news, Robyn is on the Varsity Field Hockey team here. YIPPEE!! Practices - well they start on the 18th ........at 6am-8am. I think that's just plain torture for the family!!! I have to drag my arse out of bed to take her, she didn't think riding a bike there was a good idea!!! LOL.
That's it for now!!

A ride of a lifetime!

Yes, that's Tiz in a police cruiser....and thankfully she's in the front seat!! She had the night and ride of a lifetime on Friday. Our friend Scott, who's a reserve officer for Damariscotta, was on "speeding duty" for the department on Friday. He came over to the campground for burgers.....and then asked Elizabeth if she wanted to ride around with him for a while. If you know her, she's got big brown eyes that sparkle to begin with, and if you can imagine that they got even bigger and practically glowed! She was beside herself! So off they went, I figured a ride through the campground and maybe the end of the road. But no - he took her actually out! They stopped a few cars, one lady got a ticket, and didn't come back for over an hour. Needless to say she was wound up tighter than I dunno what! She kept saying that was the best night of her life and that Scott was sweet to take her. She's in still so excited and all she talks about. So, if you see her, go ahead and ask her what she thought........you won't be disappointed in her reaction!!! Now, lets make sure she stays in the front seat of a cruiser, not the back! ;)

Our camper, where we were trapped with 3 days of rain. Thank goodness for the screen room, gives us a little extra breathing room.

STOP THE INSANITY!

okay, I've been trapped in a camper with heavy down pours and "chatty Cathy".....I think I'm going to go insane. Now don't get me wrong, I love my girls tremendously - but a small camper really tests the limits!

HOWEVER, thank you Auntie for the books, that is helping me out a little. I can tune them out for a few minutes. I can also sit by the pool, in the rain and read....whatever keeps them entertained!

You know all the dry weather we've been having, well all you guys needed to do is ask for us to go on vacation, guaranteed rain everytime!!

1st day of camping

Well the first day of camping has been uneventful. We got back to the campsite last night around 9 and went to bed. I read for a while and then listened to the rain, paranoid that a tree branch would fall on me during the storm!! Survived that and slept fairly well, until Tiz woke me up at 8....darn it! We went to the pool for a while, the sun peaked out and then disappeared. This afternoon we watched BEWITCHED and read while it sprinkled. Its almost 5pm and its really, really dark so expecting another downpour soon. Robbie and Robyn should arrive before 6 for dinner.

Sadly....a longtime friend of the Ham family and an Aunt to my brother-in-law Mark passed away today. The guess is she had a severe asthma attack and couldn't get help in time. The blessing is that she is now with Rex after a long separation since he passed. Though the heart-ache for the family at the unexpected passing will take a while to heal. Rest peacefully Joyce.

Tractor Pulls

I feel bad that I've neglected to praise about Robyn's latest trophy! But with doing 36-48hrs on the ambulance service the past 2 weeks, I'm not sure I know which end is up!

So, anyways.......I've included some pictures of her "pulling" in the antique tractor pull here on 7/5/08 at the Railway Village. She and Robbie are set up to do some more pulls later in the summer. She has 2nd and 3rd place ribbons, this is her first....1st!!! :) She was funny and I wish I took a picture, but I was in complete awe, her front tires went off the ground and she didn't panic and stall it!!! Scared her 1/2 to death though!!

Washburn and Doughty Fire 7/11/2008

Tragic day in the Boothbay Region on Friday when one of the Regions largest employers burned down to the ground. The top picture is when I arrived on scene with the ambulance, about 9:36am, the progress was quick and the other picture is taken not more than a few minutes later. Thankfully the fire departments did a FABULOUS job (around 24 area departments in all and over 130 firemen) saving neighboring houses as well as my husbands employers building!!!
